Hydrotherapy

Know About

Hydrotherapy Massages (Dry)

Hydromassage is a therapeutic technique involving the use of water and pressurized jets to help massage muscles and other soft tissues in the body. Hydromassage offers many of the same benefits as traditional massage therapy, with the added bonus of water. While more clinical evidence is needed to support the use of this form of therapy for certain medical conditions, the proven benefits include:

  • Relaxation: Massage can be relaxing, so people may find hydromassage helpful for reducing stress.
    • Aches and pains: Massage can help reduce muscle tension, which can cause aches and pains. People may find hydromassage does the same thing. A 2019 review noted there is evidence that spa therapy — which includes massage — may help with lower back pain.
  • Post-workout recovery: Some people use massage after a workout to reduce the amount of lactic acid in muscles to ease post-workout aches.
  • Immune health: A nonrandomized, controlled clinical study on children aged 3–6 years found reductions in the number of kindergarten absence days due to lower respiratory tract infections following a cold-water therapy intervention. It is possible that cold hydromassage may provide a similar benefit, although there are no studies that specifically prove this.
  • No contact: Some people may want a massage but feel uncomfortable about another person touching them. Hydromassage may be a good alternative, as it only involves pressure from water jets. Dry hydromassage also does not require a person to get changed, which may be preferable for some people.

Note: Unless recommended by a doctor, don’t use hydromassage if you sustain any joint injuries or fractured bones.

What to Expect?

The Experience

Hydro-Massage: A relaxing treatment that helps relieve your pain and stress.

From the moment you lay down until your session ends, you’ll understand why our hydromassage table is so popular! This “hands-off” therapy massages your back, neck, and shoulders without anyone ever touching you. You don’t get undressed and there are no oils or lotions used. You simply lie back onto a water-filled mattress and a series of spa jets direct streams of warm water against your body. The rhythmic action of the jets helps loosen tight muscles and promotes an overall feeling of relaxation.

Hydromassage Therapy

For Back Pain

Most episodes of back pain are caused by muscle strain. The large paired muscles in the low back help hold up the spine, and with an injury, the muscles can become inflamed and spasm, causing low back pain and significant stiffness.
Common causes of muscle strain of the large back muscles include: sudden movement, an awkward fall, lifting a heavy
object or a sports injury.

Muscle spasms in the lower back can create sensations that may range from mild discomfort to excruciating pain.

A combination of heat and massage can help relieve the pain. Our hydromassage table combines both therapies in a simple-to-use and safe device.

Hydromassage may feel painful at first if your muscles are in spasm. The discomfort should lessen once the muscles are loosened and warmed. Following the therapy, any soreness that presents itself should fade away. The muscles that were tight should remain noticeably more relaxed for several hours or even days, depending on stress, activity level, and severity of back pain prior to beginning hydromassage therapy.

Heat Therapy

Improves Blood Circulation. Heat dilates the blood vessels of the muscles surrounding the spine. This process increases the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, helping to heal the damaged tissue.

Reduces Pain. Heat stimulates the sensory receptors in the skin, which means that applying heat to the back will decrease transmissions of pain signals to the brain and partially relieve the discomfort.

Relaxes Muscles. Heat application facilitates the stretching of the soft tissues around the spine, muscles, connective tissue, and adhesions. Consequently, there will be a decrease in stiffness as well as an increase in flexibility and overall feeling of comfort.

Massage Therapy

Improves Blood Circulation. Massage increases blood circulation which aids in the recovery of muscle soreness from physical activity or injury.

Muscle Relaxation and Improved Range of Motion. Massage causes the muscles to relax which will improve the range of motion.

Increased Endorphin Levels. The increase in endorphin levels is actually one of the greatest benefits of massage therapy. Endorphins are the chemicals the body produces that make you feel good which is very effective in managing pain.
